Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the response lacks a cohesive summary of the trends. For instance, while you mention the percentages for user categories, you could have grouped them more effectively to highlight the dominance of undergraduates. Additionally, the description of the table data is a bit repetitive in its structure. To reach a higher band, ensure that you not only report the data but also synthesize the information by making more direct comparisons between the categories and the satisfaction levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'as well as' and 'finally', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. There are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly abrupt, such as the transition between the pie chart description and the table analysis. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel like a list of statistics rather than a cohesive narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'proportion', 'respondents', and 'reliability' appropriately. However, there are some awkward collocations and minor errors, such as 'survey carried among' (should be 'carried out among') and 'represented a low' (should be 'represented the smallest proportion'). The repetition of 'users' and 'satisfied' throughout the text limits the sophistication of your writing. To improve, try to use more varied synonyms and ensure that your word choices are precise and natural in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the survey', 'the university library') and verb forms ('The pie chart and table illustrates' should be 'illustrate'; 'are received' should be 'received'). Some sentences are slightly disjointed due to punctuation issues, such as comma splices. While you attempt complex structures, they are not always error-free. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy and allow for a higher band score.
