Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table, providing a clear overview. You have included data to support your points, such as the 44% for full-time undergraduates and the 48% for Wi-Fi reliability. However, the response lacks a clear, analytical comparison between the categories. While you list the data, you do not fully synthesize the information to highlight trends or significant contrasts effectively. To improve, ensure you group related data points more logically and avoid simply listing figures, which makes the report feel somewhat mechanical. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis could be enhanced.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical. Phrases like 'The next on the list' and 'The third decreasing amount' are used to transition between ideas, but they feel a bit unnatural. Additionally, some sentences are poorly linked, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed at times. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data presentation.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations. For example, you use 'delightful working' to describe satisfaction, which is not appropriate in this context. You also use 'fulfilment' and 'contentment' in ways that do not accurately reflect the data. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'satistifcation' and 'satusfaction'. To improve, focus on learning the specific collocations used to describe statistical data, such as 'high levels of satisfaction' rather than 'delightful working'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the library consumers are in high percentage is'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the most insignificant numbers of library utilizers are academic staff which is slighty less than distance learning'). These errors occasionally impede the flow of the text, though the meaning remains generally clear. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic sentence construction and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
