Student answer (Band 6.0)
The chart and table below illustrate the type of categories of library users at an university also with their satisfaction calculated in percentage.
Overall, the categories of library users at divided into 5 groups which are Academic staff, full-time graduate, full-time postgraduate, part-time graduate followed by distance learning. Among all these groups full-time undergraduates are the highest number of users at the library. Whereas, academic staff are the least in the number of users in the library at the university.
To begin with, it is clear from the chart that full-time graduate students were the top readers at the library with 44 percent, on the other hand, academic staff were among the least who preferred to read at the university library with 7 percent, followed by group of distance learning students who are at 8 percent.
Moreover, it is easy to note from the table that most of the people were fully satisfied with the helpfulness of staff. Although, moderate amount of people were very satisfied and few percent of people were fairly satisfied with 65 and 35 respectively. But we can see that among other satisfactory options library opening hours and helpfulness of staff were one of the options, which had zero percentage of not satisfied readers from the university.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, such as identifying the highest and lowest user groups. However, the analysis of the table is problematic. You misidentified the data, referring to 'full-time graduate' as 44% when the chart shows 'full-time undergraduates' at 44%. Furthermore, the description of the table regarding satisfaction levels is confusing and inaccurate; you mention '65 and 35' without clearly linking them to the specific categories of 'very satisfied' or 'fairly satisfied' as presented in the source. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe data points and provide a clearer comparison between the different satisfaction metrics provided in the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'To begin with', and 'Moreover' to signal transitions. However, the internal cohesion within the final paragraph is weak. The sentence 'Although, moderate amount of people were very satisfied and few percent of people were fairly satisfied with 65 and 35 respectively' is disjointed and lacks clear referencing. Additionally, the use of 'But' at the start of a sentence is slightly informal for an academic report. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring clear pronoun referencing would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrate', 'satisfaction', and 'categories'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'type of categories' is redundant, and 'moderate amount of people' is imprecise when describing statistical data. You also struggle with accurate reporting of percentages, which affects the precision of your lexical choices. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is used to describe data trends accurately rather than using vague quantifiers.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'at an university' (should be 'a university'), 'at divided into' (should be 'are divided into'), and 'least in the number of users' (should be 'the fewest users'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure in the final paragraph is fragmented, particularly the attempt to describe the satisfaction table. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences and proofreading for basic article and preposition errors would significantly improve your score.
