Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the highest and lowest categories of library users and the satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the trends. The description of the satisfaction data is somewhat vague; for instance, the phrase 'users were not really assured about the facilities' is imprecise and does not accurately reflect the data provided in the table. While the main features are identified, the comparison between categories could be more analytical. To improve, ensure that you provide a clear opening summary of the most significant trends and use precise language when describing statistical data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition 'However' is used in contexts where it does not logically fit, such as 'However, each category holds the different amount'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, making the flow between sentences feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central topic that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'highest amount of a percentage' and 'academic staff is very minimum' are unnatural and imprecise. The word 'assured' is used repeatedly to describe satisfaction, which is not the most appropriate collocation in this context. There is a reliance on basic vocabulary, and the attempt to use more complex terms leads to errors in word choice. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to data reporting, such as 'the largest proportion' or 'a significant minority', and avoid repeating the same words throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Issues include incorrect article usage (e.g., 'a library', 'a wi-fi'), subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'The experience of library users are listed'), and awkward phrasing that impacts readability. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
