Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response effectively covers all parts of the task. You have clearly identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table, providing a logical overview and supporting details with accurate data. The comparison between user categories and satisfaction levels is well-integrated. You successfully highlighted the most significant trends, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction regarding staff helpfulness. The information is well-selected and presented in a way that allows the reader to grasp the key findings of the survey immediately. No significant omissions were noted, and the response is well-balanced throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The response is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: the introduction and overview, the user categories, and the satisfaction levels. You have used cohesive devices effectively, such as 'whereas', 'in terms of', 'regarding', and 'finally', to link sentences and ideas smoothly. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information flows naturally from the general overview to the specific data points. There is no evidence of mechanical or repetitive use of linking words, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the data throughout the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have demonstrated a good range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic report. Phrases such as 'constituted the largest proportion', 'accounted for', and 'comparatively lower satisfaction levels' show a good command of language. The vocabulary is precise and used accurately to describe the data. While the range is sufficient and effective, incorporating a few more sophisticated synonyms for 'satisfied' or 'represented' could elevate the response further. However, the current usage is natural and fits the context of the task perfectly, with no errors in word choice or collocation that impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The response displays a wide range of grammatical structures with a high level of accuracy. You have successfully used a mix of simple and complex sentences, such as the use of participial phrases ('making them by far the largest group') and comparative structures ('compared with 33% fairly satisfied'). Punctuation is used correctly, and there are no significant grammatical errors. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and the control over tense and subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout the text. The writing is clear, professional, and demonstrates a strong grasp of English grammar.
