Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the largest and smallest groups in the user categories and highlighted key satisfaction levels. However, there are some inconsistencies in the data reporting; for instance, you mention 44% in the introduction but 40% in the body paragraph for full-time undergraduates. Additionally, the comparison between distance learners and academic staff is slightly confusing. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are transcribed accurately from the source material and that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific categories provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In terms of', and 'while' to connect ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the comparison between journal availability and wifi is abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural transition between the two distinct data sets (the chart and the table).

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'satisfaction level', and 'account for'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'helpfulness of library staff have the highest number of satisfied people' (should be 'has the highest percentage') and 'Library timing have second largest satisfied people'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring subject-verb agreement when discussing percentages and data groups.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Library timing have', 'Availability of books have') and article usage (e.g., 'the helpfulness of the staff'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly awkward due to missing prepositions or incorrect phrasing. While the meaning remains clear throughout, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and article consistency would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
