Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing both the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction levels for staff helpfulness. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical comparison between the two datasets. While you mention the data, you do not explicitly link the user categories to their potential satisfaction levels. To improve, ensure you highlight the most significant trends rather than listing every figure, as this would demonstrate a more sophisticated approach to data selection. The overview is present but could be more concise.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'On the other hand' to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. For instance, the transition between the pie chart data and the table data is somewhat abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this two facilities') is grammatically accurate to maintain a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'accounting for', and 'satisfaction percentages'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'library reader' instead of 'library users' and 'helpfulness of staff facility'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word formation, such as 'part-time postgraduate' (should be plural). To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is consistently accurate when describing statistical trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and pluralization (e.g., 'the among the user majority', 'this two facilities had'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and incorrect capitalization. While you attempt complex structures, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered error-free. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb forms will help improve your score in this criterion.
