Student answer (Band 5.5)
The pie chart illustrates the groups of library users while the table shows the library users satisfaction, both are measured in percentages.
Overall, it is clear that Full time undergraduate and postgraduate students and the staff members who perform duties of information and opening hours are represented the highest share.
Looking at the pie chart in detail, the proportion of students who enrol in bachelor and who pursue master studies are the dominant category with the percentages of 44% and 25%, respectively. Notably, Part-time postgraduate students are accounted the 16% of the overall chart. Furthermore, individuals related to Distance learning (all courses) and Academic staff are shown the least values of 6% and 7%.
On the other hand, the users are highly satisfied with these categories of persons which included helpfulness of staff and library opening hours with ratio of 95% and 65%. Moreover, in fairly satisfied column the value is higher for Availability of books. The percentages of not satisfied library users are greater for Availability of journals and Reliability of wi-fi which is 20% and 19%.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the task achievement is slightly hindered by the lack of clear comparisons between the two data sets. For instance, you describe the user categories and satisfaction levels in separate paragraphs without linking them. To reach a higher band, ensure you synthesize the information rather than just listing it. Additionally, ensure that all data points are accurately interpreted; for example, your description of the table categories is slightly confusing, as you mix 'helpfulness of staff' with 'opening hours' in a way that does not clearly reflect the table's structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Looking at the pie chart in detail', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the transition between the pie chart data and the table data is somewhat abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within the second body paragraph is slightly mechanical. Improving the flow between sentences by using more varied linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'dominant category', and 'respectively'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'are accounted the 16%' should be 'account for 16%', and 'are shown the least values' is unnatural phrasing. You also use 'represented' incorrectly in the overview. To improve, focus on using verbs that accurately describe statistical data, such as 'constitute', 'comprise', or 'account for', and ensure your collocations are natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'are represented the highest share' is a passive voice error, and 'are accounted the 16%' is incorrect. There are also minor issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'the users are highly satisfied with these categories of persons which included helpfulness'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focus on mastering passive voice constructions and subject-verb agreement.
