Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response effectively addresses the task by summarizing the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You have successfully identified the key demographics, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates, and highlighted the satisfaction trends, including the high approval for staff helpfulness and the specific areas of dissatisfaction regarding journals and Wi-Fi. The data is accurately reported and comparisons are made, such as contrasting the smallest and largest user groups. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview is more clearly separated from the body paragraphs and that all data points are presented with consistent precision, as some minor details could be more explicitly linked to the provided figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on demographics and satisfaction respectively. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'regarding', and 'conversely' are used to guide the reader through the information. However, the paragraphing could be improved; the overview is currently merged with the first body paragraph, which disrupts the flow. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are slightly mechanical. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring a distinct structure for the overview would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'delineates', 'demographics', 'proportions', and 'segments' appropriately. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'satisfed' instead of 'satisfied' and 'user' instead of 'users' in several instances. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure consistent accuracy in spelling and pluralization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'full time student comprise' instead of 'students comprise') and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and incorrect capitalization at the start of sentences. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring complex sentences are constructed correctly will help improve this score.
