Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. The overview is clear, and you have made relevant comparisons, such as noting the highest and lowest categories of users and satisfaction levels. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points are integrated more smoothly. For instance, when discussing the satisfaction levels, you mention 'largest proportion' and 'half' without always clearly contrasting them against the other categories. To reach a higher band, ensure that the data is not just listed but consistently compared to highlight the most significant trends across the different categories provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the chart and table respectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'however', and 'furthermore' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more precise. For example, the phrase 'At last' is not the most natural way to introduce the final point in a report. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus will help improve the flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'accounted for', and 'satisfaction level' appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'whereas table shows' (missing an article) and 'at last' (which is slightly informal for an academic report). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and data, and ensure that articles and prepositions are used consistently. Your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('whereas table shows', 'at the largest percentage') and minor punctuation issues. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on the correct use of articles and ensure that your sentence structures are varied. Practicing the use of complex sentences with accurate subordinate clauses will help you achieve greater grammatical control and accuracy in your future writing.
