Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the breakdown of library users and the satisfaction levels regarding various services. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant figures. However, the report could be improved by better grouping the data in the table section. For instance, instead of listing percentages for each category individually, you could compare the 'very satisfied' versus 'not satisfied' groups more effectively. Additionally, some data points, such as the comparison between the availability of journals and Wi-Fi, were presented in a slightly confusing manner, making it difficult for the reader to follow the specific figures for each category.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is generally coherent, with a clear overall structure consisting of an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall' and 'According to the table', to guide the reader. However, the progression of ideas within the second body paragraph is somewhat mechanical. The sentences are often list-like, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the table data. Improving the use of linking words and varying the sentence structure would help the information flow more naturally and logically between points.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'undergraduate', 'postgraduate', and 'satisfaction'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'mostly full-time undergraduate students are using the library' and 'Others have very low'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'data about the survey from the students' instead of 'data from a student survey'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and improve your control over collocations to express comparisons more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, '44% library used by' should be '44% of library users were' and '95% very satisfied' lacks a verb (e.g., '95% were very satisfied'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable and occur frequently. To improve, focus on ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
