Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the pie chart and the table. You have successfully identified the main features, such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction levels regarding staff helpfulness. However, the analysis of the table is slightly disorganized. For instance, the description of satisfaction levels is somewhat vague, using phrases like 'up to 50%' and 'varied about 10% or 20%' rather than clearly stating the specific figures provided in the table. To improve, ensure that all key data points are explicitly mentioned and compared more precisely to provide a clearer overview of the trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the chart and table respectively. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Similarly', 'However', and 'In addition', which help the flow of information. However, the progression within the final paragraph is slightly mechanical, and some sentences feel disjointed. The referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the description of the pie chart and the table could be smoother to better integrate the two data sources.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'proportion', 'considerable', and 'academic work'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'raliability' instead of 'reliability' and 'statisfaction' instead of 'satisfaction'. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'lied at 8%' (should be 'stood at' or 'accounted for') and 'varied about 10%'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and adverbs would enhance the precision of your data description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the students of full-time undergraduate program have a large proportion for library use' (should be 'make up a large proportion of') and 'the satisfaction level of users also categories such as' (which is grammatically incomplete). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and missing articles. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text.
