Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the pie chart and the table, but the presentation is disorganized. While you identified the key categories and satisfaction levels, there is no clear overview or summary of the data. The information is presented as a list of statistics rather than a cohesive report. To improve, you should group related data points and provide a clear introductory statement that highlights the most significant trends, such as the high satisfaction rates for staff helpfulness compared to the lower satisfaction regarding book availability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow. The text is essentially one long block of information. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'and' to link clauses. There is no logical progression between the pie chart data and the table data. To improve, you must use separate paragraphs for different data sets and employ a wider range of linking words, such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore', to connect your ideas more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrases like 'percentage is' and 'satisfied is'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'avavilable' and 'isshow'. To reach a higher band, you should use a more varied range of vocabulary to describe data, such as 'account for', 'the majority of', 'a significant proportion', or 'dissatisfaction levels'. You should also focus on using more precise terminology when referring to the data categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms, and run-on sentences. For example, 'Categories of library users show on Pie chart' should be 'The categories of library users are shown on the pie chart'. Many sentences lack proper punctuation, making the text difficult to parse. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and work on using articles (a/an/the) correctly throughout your writing.
