Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the user categories and satisfaction levels. However, the report lacks precision in describing the data. For instance, you mention '95 among with 5', which is unclear as it lacks units (percentages). Additionally, the comparison between categories is sometimes confusing, such as saying 'full-time postgraduate were 25% responsible of usage'. To improve, ensure you clearly state the units and make direct, accurate comparisons between the groups. You have covered all parts of the task, but the presentation of the data needs to be more precise and analytical to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'However, Academic staff and distance learning were constitute for 7% and 8% while part-time post graduates make up to library usage were significantly higher then them 16%' is a run-on sentence with awkward transitions. The flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, making the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring they are used correctly would improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choice. For example, 'were constitute for' is grammatically incorrect, and 'prevalent compared with' is used in a way that does not clearly convey the intended meaning. You also struggle with collocations, such as 'responsible of usage'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. While you attempt to use a range of terms, the inaccuracies occasionally impede the clarity of your report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie chart and the table illustrates') and incorrect sentence structures ('library used by full-time postgraduate were 25% responsible'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the second paragraph where numbers are listed without clear grammatical integration. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound before attempting more complex structures.
