Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The following pie chart illustrates the library users at a university. The table indicates the percentage of satisfaction in different categories.
The pie chart shows that full time undergraduate accounted for 44%. While, academic stuff had the least numbers of library users. Full time postgraduates also showed great interest towards library and accounted for 25 percent of library users, followed by part time graduates and distance learners with 16 percent and 8 percent respectively.
The table illustrates the satisfaction within the library users. It can be seen that helpfulness of staff has been the most satisfying factor among the library users. Meanwhile, users are most unsatisfied by the availability of journals and Wi-Fi reliability with 20 percent and 19 percent simultaneously.
There was not a single person among the users who was dissatisfied by the library opening hours and staff being helpful. Users also showed satisfaction towards availability of books where 50 percent of them were satisfied while 40 percent were fairly satisfied, which is also highest among others.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both the chart and the table. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the response could be improved by making more direct comparisons between categories rather than listing them sequentially. For instance, instead of just stating the percentages for each group, you could contrast the dominance of undergraduates with the minority status of distance learners. Additionally, ensure that the data is interpreted accurately; for example, you mentioned 'academic stuff' (likely a typo for 'staff') had the least number of users, which is a good observation, but the analysis of the table could be more nuanced by grouping the satisfaction levels more effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with the first focusing on the pie chart and the second and third on the table. The use of cohesive devices such as 'while', 'meanwhile', and 'respectively' helps the flow of information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of the pie chart and the table is abrupt. Using more sophisticated linking phrases to introduce the table would improve the overall cohesion of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You used terms like 'accounted for', 'respectively', and 'satisfaction' appropriately. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'academic stuff' instead of 'academic staff' and the misuse of 'simultaneously' when you likely meant 'respectively' or 'equally'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'showed' or 'illustrated' and use more precise collocations when describing statistical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'full time undergraduate accounted for' (missing an article or pluralization) and 'satisfaction within the library users' (should be 'among'). The sentence 'Users also showed satisfaction towards availability of books where 50 percent of them were satisfied while 40 percent were fairly satisfied, which is also highest among others' is slightly clunky. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
