Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, including the user categories and satisfaction levels. You provided a clear overview and made relevant comparisons, such as noting that full-time undergraduates make up the largest group and comparing the proportions of other categories. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for example, referring to '44 proportion' is unclear, and the description of satisfaction trends becomes slightly repetitive. To improve, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to their specific categories and avoid vague phrasing when describing numerical trends. Overall, the response covers the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'meanwhile' and 'whereas', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas could be smoother. For example, the transition between the user categories and the satisfaction data is abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the second body paragraph could be improved by grouping the satisfaction data more effectively to avoid a list-like feel. Using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'individuals', and 'reliability'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the date presents' (should be 'data'), 'past-time graduate' (likely 'part-time'), and 'gets doubled than of' (should be 'is double that of'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that terminology related to charts and statistics is used accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include 'maximum number of library user is' (should be 'users are'), 'the academic staff spend the less time' (should be 'the least time'), and 'the individual who was very satisfied... kept on declining' (which is slightly awkward). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement, article usage, and comparative structures.
