Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the response is incomplete; it introduces the chart and table but fails to provide any data from the table or a meaningful summary of the main features. The description of the chart is fragmented and lacks the necessary analysis or comparison required for an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear overview, and include sufficient detail to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, body paragraphing, or conclusion. The sentences are disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and often incorrect, such as the abrupt transition 'Then A table shows'. The lack of logical progression makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, you should organize your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and specific details. Use linking words like 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'furthermore' to connect your ideas more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'undergraduate contains almost nearly half' and '1/3 of usage are haved by'. The phrasing is unnatural and lacks the academic tone required for this task. To improve, focus on learning vocabulary related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'a significant proportion', and 'the majority'. Avoid informal phrasing and ensure you use precise terminology when discussing statistics and categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('undergraduate contains', '1/3 of usage are haved'), incorrect capitalization ('FInally', 'A table'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are simple and often fragmented. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb forms, and proper punctuation. Practice writing complete, grammatically accurate sentences before attempting more complex structures.
