Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the prompt by summarising the main features of both the chart and the table. You successfully report the proportions of different library user categories, highlighting that full-time undergraduates form the largest group and academic staff the smallest. You also report key satisfaction levels regarding staff, opening hours, books, journals, and Wi-Fi, making relevant comparisons such as noting that undergraduates visit almost six times as often as academic staff. However, the data presentation could be slightly more analytical and precise to reach a higher band. Overall, the main trends and contrasts are clearly identified.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Ideas are grouped logically, separating the user categories from the satisfaction survey results. However, paragraphing is somewhat inadequate as the body of the text is lumped into a dense block rather than being clearly structured. Cohesive devices and referencing are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, for instance with transitions like 'Conversaly' and repetitive sentence structures starting with percentages. Despite these minor issues, there is a logical progression throughout the text that allows the reader to follow the argument easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'proportion', 'satisfaction', 'frequently', and 'availability'. There are, however, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'pi chart' instead of 'pie chart', 'helpfull', 'respectivelly' (repeated), and 'Howerver'. Furthermore, awkward phrasings like 'very less' appear instead of 'far less frequently'. While these lexical errors do not impede communication, they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary control shows some inconsistency and spelling mistakes are present.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, successfully using relative clauses ('The full time undergraduate students who visit library are...') and passive constructions. There are, however, several grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, such as missing articles ('at university', 'visit library'), incorrect prepositions, and spacing issues around commas and periods. Despite these errors, the majority of your simple sentences are clear, and your mistakes rarely impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you need to increase your control over complex structures and eliminate basic punctuation and article errors.
