The pie chart and table demonstrate the results of a survey of library users at a university.
Overall, full-time undergraduates accounted for the largest proportion of library users, followed by full-time postgraduates, while distance learning for all courses and academic staff accounted for the lowest percentages of library users. On the other hand, satisfaction of library users showed varying results, with users reporting the highest percentage of satisfaction regarding helpfulness of staff, followed by library opening hours displaying high satisfaction rates. However, availability of journals and reliability of wi-fi were the two features that had the highest percentages of dissatisfaction.
Full-time undergraduates accounted for almost half of the library users, reaching 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates which accounted for 25% of library users, part-time postgraduates and distance learning courses made up 18% and 8% of library users respectively. Finally, academic staff accounted for the lowest proportion of library users at just 7%.
Library user satisfaction displayed varying results, with library opening hours and helpfulness of staff being the only two features with 100% satisfaction. However, helpfulness of staff was by far the most satisfying feature with 95% being very satisfied and only 5% showing fair satisfaction, while library opening hours had 65% of users very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied. On the other hand, availability of books, availability of journals and reliability of wi-fi had similar satisfaction levels, with 45% to 50% being very satisfied on each feature and 33% to 40% being fairly satisfied. Moreover, dissatisfaction rates were the highest for availability of journals followed closely by reliability of wi-fi at 20 and 19% respectively.
