The chart and table below show the results of a survey of library users at a university.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart illustrates the different types of library users in a university. The table summarises the satisfaction level of these users in different sectors. Overall one could say that a certain demographic used the library more frequently than the others and on an average the users of the library were fairly satisfied.

From the pie chart, it is evident that almost half of the library users were full time undergraduate students falling at 44%. Full time postgraduate students were next with a proportion of 25%. Part time postgraduate students were almost half of that of full time, falling at 16%. It was noticed that students who were having distant learning courses and the academic staff were among the least common library users, falling at 8% and 7% respectively.

From the table, one can study that a majority of the percent of users, that was around 95%, were thoroughly satisfied with the helpfulness of the staff. Almost half of these numbers, that is 65% were fond of the library opening hours. However, not the same could be said for the users, on the aspect of the availability of journals with only 45% satisfied with it but 35% having mediocre thoughts and 20% disappointed with it. A similar reaction could be noticed regarding the users reaction towards the reliability of wi-fi, with 48% satisfied with the service, however the remaining 33% and 19% were fairly satisfied and disappointed respectively. There was a mixed reaction for the availability of books, with the half being overly satisfied and the remaining 40% okay, leaving the 10% not at all satisfied.

All in all, the full time undergraduates were the leading users of the library, and on an average the satisfaction level of the library users was met with a good response.
