The chart and table below show the results of a survey of library users at a university.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The pie chart illustrates the different categories of users at a university library, while the table shows their levels of satisfaction with five aspects of the library service.

Overall, full-time undergraduates made up by far the largest proportion of library users, whereas academic staff accounted for the smallest share. In terms of satisfaction, the helpfulness of staff received the most positive response, while journals and Wi-Fi attracted the highest levels of dissatisfaction.

Full-time undergraduate students accounted for 44% of all library users, making them the largest group. Full-time postgraduates represented a further 25%, while part-time postgraduates made up 16%. By contrast, distance learners and academic staff accounted for much smaller proportions, at 8% and 7%, respectively.

Regarding satisfaction, 95% of respondents were very satisfied with the helpfulness of staff, while only 5% were fairly satisfied and none were dissatisfied. Library opening hours also received favourable feedback, with 65% being very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied. The figures for books were 50%, 40% and 10%, respectively. By comparison, journals and Wi-Fi recorded higher dissatisfaction rates, at 20% and 19%.
