Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The pie chart illustrates the outcomes of a survey at a university about users who utlilize library, whereas the table provides the data on library user satisfaction in three categories.
Overall, full time undergraduates accounted for the most percentage of users using library, followed by full time postgraduates. The least users of library are academic staff category. Mostly users are satisfied with helping nature of library staff, however availability of journals and reliability of wi-fi are still those factors where users need are not satisfied.
Amoung the five categories of library users, students, both undergraduates and postgraduates make up almost 69% of the chart. Academic staff sits at the last in terms of percentage with only 7% in total, similarly distance leraning also comprises of 8 percent only. Part-time postgradues users account for 16%.
Now talking about the satisfaction percentage, two services ranks highest in terms of satisfaction accounting 65 and 95 percent respectively. The availabilty of books is one factor which is highly ranked in fairly satisfied category achieving 40 percentage in survey. The library opening hours and helpfulness of staff are only two factors that has no not-satisfied users, while all other three services has negative feedback and are not satisfied.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the pie chart and the table. An overview is provided, highlighting the main groups (full-time undergraduates as the largest category) and general trends in satisfaction. Key data points are selected and compared accurately, such as noting that full-time undergraduates and postgraduates make up 69% of the chart, and identifying that library opening hours and helpfulness of staff received no negative feedback. However, some minor inaccuracies occur in the description of the table data, such as vague references like 'two services ranks highest in terms of satisfaction accounting 65 and 95 percent respectively' without properly contextualising them against opening hours and staff helpfulness. Overall, the information is well-selected and relevant, meeting the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is logically organized with a clear overall progression. It begins with an introductory paragraph, followed by a general overview, a body paragraph dedicated to the pie chart data, and a final body paragraph discussing the table data. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different visual elements. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'Overall', 'Amoung', and 'Now talking about' are employed to structure the text, though some transitions are a bit conversational ('Now talking about'). Referencing is generally clear, despite occasional minor mechanical phrasing. This performance aligns well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'outcomes', 'proportion' (implicitly used), 'category', and 'satisfaction'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the response, including 'utlilize' instead of 'utilize', 'Amoung' instead of 'Among', 'leraning' instead of 'learning', and 'postgradues' instead of 'postgraduates'. Furthermore, phrases like 'helping nature of library staff' and 'users need are not satisfied' show limited collocation control and awkward phrasing. These errors place the lexical performance firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as subordinate clauses ('while all other three services has negative feedback'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and preposition use, including 'Mostly users are satisfied' (Most users), 'The least users of library are' (The fewest users), 'distance leraning also comprises of' (comprises), and 'two services has' (have). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the grammatical inaccuracies occasionally distract the reader, though they rarely impede overall communication. This corresponds to a Band 5.5.
