Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 100 words and trailing off mid-sentence ("acadamic qi"). While the writer attempts to present an overview and select main features such as the highest category (full-time undergraduates at 44%) and touches upon satisfaction data, the incomplete nature of the response prevents a fully developed task completion. Crucially, the data points for satisfaction percentages are largely omitted or incomplete, and the second chart's figures are not properly integrated. This results in a partial coverage of the task requirements, heavily constrained by the severe under-length penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text attempts a logical structure by starting with an introductory statement, followed by an overview, and then diving into specific details. However, the organisation breaks down completely as the text abruptly cuts off in the second body paragraph. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive, such as "Begin with highest type" and "furthermore". Paragraphing is underdeveloped, and the lack of a proper conclusion combined with the unfinished final sentence disrupts the overall flow and logical progression of the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and contains several noticeable errors in word choice and spelling. Examples include "illustrate" instead of "illustrates", "rank the highest in term of users" instead of "account for the highest proportion", and spelling mistakes such as "learing" (learning) and "acadamic" (academic). While the vocabulary used is minimally adequate to convey basic concepts about the charts, the presence of frequent lexical errors and typos restricts the score to this band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and lists. There are multiple grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ("Full-time undergraduate rank") and missing articles ("the chart below illustrate", "along with that table below describe"). Punctuation and formatting are also flawed, notably with the strange use of symbols like "44./.". Because the text trails off incomplete, it fails to demonstrate control over complex structures.
