Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on both the pie chart and the table, selecting and reporting main features such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction with library staff and opening hours. However, some ideas and details are under-developed or inadequately supported, which places the task achievement at this level. For instance, while the writer mentions that distance learning and academic staff are at the bottom line, the discussion lacks a more thorough synthesis of the satisfaction metrics, such as omitting clear descriptions of the discontent levels for journals and Wi-Fi. The overview is present in the second paragraph, but it is somewhat simplistic and lacks precision.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organise information into paragraphs, grouping the chart data and table data separately. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and faulty, with referencing not always clear. Phrases like 'Besides they not comfortable' and repetitive sentence structures disrupt the logical flow and progression. Paragraphing is used, but the internal transitions between sentences lack finesse, leading to choppy connections. Pronoun referencing and cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'respectively', and 'besides' are either overused in awkward positions or lack accurate punctuation, causing the progression of ideas to occasionally falter.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but the range is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation. Examples of lexical slips include 'strenght' instead of strength, 'ditance' for distance, 'alvailabilty' and 'avaliabilty' for availability, and 'wfi' for Wi-Fi. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'proportion' or descriptive phrases, but inaccurate collocations and spelling errors impede precise communication. While the meaning remains generally understandable, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the writing from achieving a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in article usage, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. For instance, the writer states 'the strenght of full time undergraduate students is on top in library and the ditance learning and academic staff are on bottom line' and 'there is percentage of fairly satisfied with 5%'. Punctuation is also weak, particularly the lack of appropriate spacing and commas around transitional elements like 'respectively'. Although these errors rarely completely impede communication, they occur regularly enough to characterize this level of grammatical control.
