Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on both the chart and the table, making relevant comparisons. An appropriate overview is provided, highlighting the main features such as the highest percentages for full-time undergraduates and the general trends in satisfaction ratings. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or less precise, for instance when discussing the minor categories or grouping the satisfaction data, which prevents the response from reaching a higher level. Overall, the data from the visual prompts is accurately represented, covering the key proportions and survey results adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the chart data to the table statistics. Paragraphing is utilized to separate the introduction, overview, chart details, and table data. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Overall', 'while', and 'whereas', but referencing and linking can sometimes feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. The flow between sentences is generally clear, though occasional awkward transitions prevent the response from achieving a more fluid and sophisticated organizational structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to successfully communicate the main features of the visual data. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary and appropriate statistical terms, such as 'proportion', 'estimate', and 'respectively'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, including word-choice and spelling issues like 'Th' instead of 'The', 'ragarding', 'satisfiction', 'Post-time', 'depics', and 'indecate'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect limitations in lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently contain errors. There are numerous grammatical inaccuracies throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'full-time undergraduate shows', missing articles such as 'in the chart', and preposition misuse. Punctuation and sentence boundary errors also occur. These frequent errors in grammar and mechanics require some effort from the reader to untangle, though meaning is still generally conveyed.
