Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially because it presents a limited selection of data and contains inaccuracies in reporting the figures. While the pie chart categories are mentioned, the specific percentages for full-time postgraduates (25%) and part-time postgraduates (16%) are omitted or inaccurately stated as 'part time postgraduate are second one who spend his time'. Furthermore, the summary of the table is heavily generalised and misses key data points, such as the exact satisfaction and dissatisfaction percentages for wi-fi, books, and journals. To achieve a higher band, all parts of the prompt must be covered more fully, with key data accurately reported and appropriately compared without omitting essential statistical details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation with basic paragraphing that separates the pie chart description from the table details, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. The relationship between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and referencing pronouns are used inaccurately, such as 'where users share his feedback according ot the experience' and 'who spend his time'. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes repetitive or mechanical, leading to a somewhat fragmented reading experience. To improve, the writer should ensure logical sequencing of ideas and use a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, featuring noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling. Examples of lexical issues include 'libarary', 'respectivlly', 'availibility', 'journels', and 'cordination'. The student relies heavily on basic descriptors and struggles with appropriate collocations, such as 'facilities provide among the users' instead of 'facilities provided for users'. To move up to a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider and more precise range of vocabulary, use less common terms accurately, and pay closer attention to standard spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex forms are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammatical agreement, verb forms, and prepositions, such as 'The chart illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', 'according ot' instead of 'according to', and 'some of them wants' instead of 'want'. Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent throughout the text. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher score. Incorporating a controlled mix of error-free simple and complex sentences is essential for improvement.
