Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by attempting to summarise both the pie chart and the table, but the coverage is partial and mechanical. While some key features are mentioned, such as the highest category (full-time undergraduates at 44%) and overall satisfaction ratings, details are often inaccurate or poorly reported (for instance, misquoting data for journals and wi-fi as '455' and '48%', and misinterpreting the combined graduate figures). The overview is very basic and lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the broader trends in the visual data. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to select and report the key trends more accurately without relying on a fragmented list of figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates some organisation with paragraphing separating the introduction, pie chart, and table data, but there is no clear overall progression or logical flow throughout. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as the abrupt transitions ('Where are the public who are satisfied', 'The students who are studying in graduate programs are 40%'), which disrupt the flow of reading. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationships between ideas. To improve, the writer should use clearer logical connectors and ensure that each paragraph builds smoothly upon the previous one with precise referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The writer relies heavily on repetitive language ('people who use library', 'satisfied', 'percentage of people') and makes frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'significant satisfied', 'acedemic', 'cotribute', and 'opwning hours'. Less common lexical items are attempted but result in unnatural phrasing and inaccuracies that occasionally cause strain for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, use precise academic terminology to describe statistical data, and check spellings carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the percentage of user who used library are'), missing or incorrect prepositions, awkward relative clauses ('people ,that are satisfied, significant satisfied and that who are not satisfied'), and punctuation errors. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic sentence patterns, master article and plural usage, and reduce the density of grammatical slips.
