Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by summarising the main features of the chart and table and making appropriate comparisons. The overall trend is correctly identified, with full-time undergraduates and postgraduates highlighted as the dominant groups. Key data points, such as the highest satisfaction scores for staff helpfulness and library opening hours, are integrated well. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or imprecise; for instance, the description of dissatisfaction regarding journals and Wi-Fi lacks a fully cohesive extension of how these metrics compare to the positive ratings. To reach the next level, the reporting of data needs to be more thoroughly extended with sharper analytical comparisons across both visual inputs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response maintains a generally coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas, separating the pie chart overview from the table's satisfaction statistics into distinct paragraphs. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Overall', 'More than 75%', and 'In terms of satisfaction', which help guide the reader through the data. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion occasionally feel mechanical or slightly awkward, as seen in abrupt transitions between sentences like 'Academic staff are the least faculty to go the library. People's satisfaction based on helpfullness...' Improving the fluidity of inter-sentence connections and ensuring smoother logical bridges between distinct graphical elements would elevate this aspect further.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic statistical information and user categories clearly. There are, however, noticeable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'helpfullness' instead of helpfulness, and awkward phrasing like 'majority users visit library' and 'are the not satisfied at all'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a limited range and occasional lapses in word form and collocation. To achieve a higher band, the writer should incorporate a wider variety of precise, less common lexical items and ensure accurate spelling and word formation throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and introductory prepositional phrases. Grammatical control is moderate, but several errors persist, including subject-verb agreement issues ('full-time undergraduate are', '5% users are fairly satisfied'), missing articles ('gives the information of a survey's result'), and awkward prepositional use. Despite these lapses, communication is rarely impeded, and the majority of basic structures are handled adequately. To progress to a higher grammatical tier, the writer needs to eliminate recurrent agreement and article errors while demonstrating more consistent control over complex multi-clause structures.
