Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the pie chart and the table, and makes relevant comparisons. For example, you correctly identify that full-time undergraduates formed the largest user group at 44%, while academic staff represented the smallest proportion at 7%. You also successfully report key data points from the satisfaction table, such as the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness and the lower satisfaction regarding journals. However, some areas are under-developed or lack full clarity, such as the slightly confusing phrasing regarding book and journal satisfaction ('The most amount of the user had bad experience was with the availiability of journals of 20% user'). To reach a higher level, ensure all trends and figures are presented with greater precision and extended analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response presents information with an overall sense of arrangement, but the progression and logical flow are heavily disrupted by poor paragraphing and structural repetition. Notably, you included a redundant concluding paragraph ('The chart and table shows...') that repeats information already stated in the introduction, and the body of the text is crammed into a single block without logical separation between the chart data and the table data. Furthermore, cohesive devices are minimal and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'remaining half where 40% were fairly satisfied and reamined was unsatisfied'. To improve, you need to group related ideas into distinct paragraphs and use cohesive devices more effectively to guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common terms and reporting percentages accurately. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, incorrect word forms, and spelling mistakes that occasionally impede communication or show a lack of precision. Examples include 'majority amount' instead of 'majority', 'One-forth quater' (which contains a spelling error and is mathematically incorrect for 25%), 'availiability', 'reamined', and 'user' used incorrectly in the singular where plurals are required ('majority of user', '20% user'). To achieve a higher band score, you need to expand your control of word choice and collocation, ensuring accurate spelling and correct grammatical forms for lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and some attempt at complex sentence forms, but it is marred by frequent grammatical errors and poor control of basic structures. There are regular issues with subject-verb agreement and singular/plural consistency, such as 'the majority amount of library user was', 'distance learning had nearly similar percentage of user', and 'The chart and table shows'. Additionally, prepositional usage and relative clause structures are sometimes faulty, as seen in 'Half of the user was fully satisfied with books availability and from remaining half where 40% were fairly satisfied'. To progress, you need to reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors and demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns and agreement.
