Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of five different category of library users, whereas the table provides information about their satisfaction regarding the five library services.
Overall, the full-time undergraduates and the full-time postgraduates contributed a larger portion of library users among others. About the level of their satisfaction, most of the users satisfied with the helpfulness of staff and library opening hours.
It is evident that 44% of the total proportion of library users accounted for full-time undergraduates, while the full-time postgraduates made 25% of the total proportion. However, the part-time postgraduates were mainly 16%, and the distance learning and academic staff made only 8% and 7% of the total figure respectively.
Apart from this, the individuals were very satisfied in terms of the staff helpfulness by 95% and the library opening hours by 65%, while in case of the raliability of wi-fi, the availibility of books and the journals, 81%, 90% and 80% were both very and fairly satisfied respectively. However, the left of the proportion fell under the not satisfied category by 19%, 10% and 20% as of the sequence.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the pie chart and the table. An appropriate overview is provided, highlighting the dominant user groups and general satisfaction trends. Key data points are selected and compared, such as noting that full-time undergraduates accounted for 44% and full-time postgraduates made up 25%. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or less precise, particularly in the reporting of satisfaction breakdown figures where phrasing like '81%, 90% and 80% were both very and fairly satisfied respectively' becomes somewhat convoluted. Nevertheless, the response covers all core aspects of the visual data adequately to fulfill the requirements of this band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The writing demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the pie chart data to the table data. Paragraphing is used appropriately, separating the introduction, overall summary, pie chart details, and table details into distinct sections. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'Overall', 'It is evident', and 'Apart from this', though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel slightly mechanical, such as 'as of the sequence'. Overall, the information flows reasonably well and guides the reader through the visual data without major disruptions in cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'proportion', 'category', 'satisfaction', and 'respectively'. There are several lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations that prevent a higher score, such as 'five different category' (plural error), 'the part-time postgraduates were mainly 16%', and typos like 'raliability' and 'availibility'. Additionally, phrasing such as 'the left of the proportion' lacks precision. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they highlight the limitations in word choice and word form control characteristic of this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, utilizing relative clauses and introductory dependent clauses effectively. There are some non-systematic errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing plural agreement ('category of library users') and awkward prepositional use. However, these errors rarely impede communication and the majority of simple sentences remain accurate. Complex structures are attempted with moderate success, demonstrating control over standard grammatical patterns without frequent structural breakdowns.
