The pie chart and table represent the results of a questionnaire completed by the university library users.

Overall, among the categories(full-time undergraduate, full-time postgraduate, part time postgraduate, distance learning, and academic staff) the largest proportion represent the full time undergraduate students. Whilst the academic staff of university and students enrolled in distance learning courses have approximately the same share and has the lowest share in the proportion individually. Among the different library facilities, users found the staff substantially helpful but other facilities had an average satisfaction score.

The Majority students forty four percent students belonged to Full time undergraduate programme and full time postgraduate had quarter proportion of number of users , part time were Sixteen percent where as the academic staff and distance learning courses were approximately same having seven percent and eight percent of the proportion, respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting on both the pie chart of library user categories and the satisfaction table. An overall trend is identified, and key data points are selected for comparison. However, the performance sits at this level because some ideas and comparisons are under-developed or lack sufficient extension. For instance, the discussion of the survey results moves quickly through the data percentages without fully synthesising the contrasting levels of satisfaction, particularly grouping several lower-scoring services together rather than detailing specific figures for items like journal availability or wi-fi reliability. To reach a higher level, the response would need to more fully develop the comparisons across categories and provide a more thorough breakdown of the table data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response achieves an overall coherent arrangement, presenting an introduction, an overview paragraph, and body details that progress from user categories to satisfaction ratings. Paragraphing is utilized, and cohesive devices such as 'Whilst', 'among', and 'where as' are employed to link ideas. However, the cohesion sometimes feels mechanical or awkward, and referencing is not always clear, particularly in sentences like 'The Majority students forty four percent students belonged...' where the flow is disrupted by punctuation and phrasing issues. Additionally, transitions between sentences can be abrupt. To improve cohesion, the writer should ensure smoother logical links between sentences and refine paragraph structures so that relationships between the chart and the table data are more seamlessly integrated.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic information about proportions and survey results. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary items such as 'proportion', 'substantially', and 'satisfaction score'. However, the lexical range is limited, and there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and phrasing, such as 'The Majority students forty four percent students', 'quarter proportion of number of users', 'Availibility', and 'ninty'. These inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score. To move up, the writer should expand their range of vocabulary, improve spelling accuracy, and use precise collocations when describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like subordinate clauses introduced by 'Whilst'. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('the academic staff of university', 'quarter proportion'), incorrect pluralisation or noun phrasing ('The Majority students forty four percent students'), and tense or agreement issues ('remaining services needs'). Despite these errors, meaning is rarely obscured, and communication is maintained. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to exercise greater control over complex sentence patterns, ensure correct subject-verb agreement, and polish punctuation to reduce the frequency of grammatical slips.
