Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the pie chart and the table. An overview is successfully provided in the second paragraph, highlighting key trends such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates and general satisfaction with opening hours and staff helpfulness. However, some ideas are under-developed or contain minor inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, the writer confuses full-time undergraduates with postgraduates in the third paragraph ("The full-time graduates contributes a huge portion... Following full-time graduates with 16%"), where the 16% actually refers to part-time postgraduates. Furthermore, data selection is at times imprecise, but overall the main comparisons between categories and satisfaction levels are adequately covered, placing this response firmly in the target band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on user categories and satisfaction levels respectively. Logical progression is generally maintained through sequencing phrases such as "Overall," "On the other hand," and "Talking about the satisfaction levels." However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty due to repetitive phrasing and weak referencing. For example, paragraphs begin abruptly and the transition between ideas could be smoother. Paragraphing is used adequately to separate the two different visual prompts, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs needs more precision to reach a higher standard.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as "proportion," "negligible amount," and "satisfaction levels." However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies, inappropriate word choices, and spelling errors throughout the text. Examples include "illlustrates" (spelling), "contributes a major propotion" (collocation/form), "distant learners" instead of distance learners, "vey" instead of very, "availablity" (spelling), and "dis-satisfied." While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect a limited control of word formation and spelling, keeping the lexical score at this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and introductory prepositional phrases. There are, however, several grammatical errors relating to subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and article usage. Examples of errors include "full-time undergraduates contributes" (singular/plural agreement), "the lowest to use library" (missing article and prepositional flaw), "satisfied by timing and staff" (preposition choice), and "An equal amount of people are very satisfied and fairly satisfied by availablity" (imprecise prepositional use with adjectives). Despite these errors in grammar, they rarely impede communication, and the meaning of the sentences remains clear throughout the response.
