Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, containing only 126 words and breaking off mid-sentence. Furthermore, it attempts to summarize only a portion of the visual data, focusing almost exclusively on the pie chart while largely neglecting the table and failing to provide an adequate overview or meaningful comparisons. The information reported is very limited and minimal, resulting in a low score for this criterion. To improve, the candidate must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed, comprehensive data is included, and the length requirement is fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Information and ideas are not arranged coherently. The text is plagued by informal, conversational meta-language ('first i wold like to explane') instead of academic reporting language. Paragraphing is highly disrupted, with repetitive opening phrases and an abrupt trailing-off in the final sentence ('on the other hand i wold like to share infornation of tabie le persntage is also'). Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, and the lack of logical progression makes it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to organize ideas into clear, logical paragraphs and use standard cohesive devices naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is extremely basic, repetitive, and plagued by severe spelling errors throughout, such as 'persentage', 'diffrenet', 'useing', 'thry', 'perovide', 'explane', 'sowing', 'catogiers', 'astudent', 'survy', 'liabrary', 'universtiy', 'postgreduate', 'equresy', 'undergradute', 'lowyar', 'infornation', and 'tabie'. These lexical errors and limitations severely strain the reader and impede clear communication. To improve, the candidate must expand their range of vocabulary, practice accurate spelling of common academic words, and use precise terms related to data reporting rather than conversational slang.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mainly of flawed attempts at complex sentences. Errors are frequent and often distort meaning, such as run-on sentences lacking proper punctuation ('the pie chart shows the type of students and a persentage of diffrenet study categories where they useing at the university and thry perovide different servises by thire work'). There are also persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and missing articles ('a undergradute student is higher than to the postgraduate'). To progress, the writer needs to focus on forming grammatically correct simple and complex sentences with accurate punctuation and consistent tense control.
