Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main features of both the pie chart and the table, providing an overview in the first paragraph. However, the information is sometimes presented mechanically and contains inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, the text states that '69% of users were full-time undergraduate and postgraduate, 45% and 25% respectively,' which mathematically sums to 70%, and misses the precise figure of 44% for undergraduates stated in the prompt data. Furthermore, some comparisons lack clarity, such as stating that readers are '100% satisfied due to Helpfulness of staff,' which misrepresents the 95% very satisfied figure alongside 5% fairly satisfied. Key features are selected, but the development is limited and partially inaccurate, placing the response in the mid-range.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay attempts a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and an overview, but the overall progression is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but often inaccurately or mechanically, such as 'In contract' (instead of In contrast) and 'On other hand.' Paragraphing is attempted, but sentences within paragraphs sometimes lack clear logical transitions, making the flow bumpy. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrasing 'they are unsatisfied because of availability of journals,' where the pronoun reference is slightly ambiguous. While the text has a recognizable organizational framework, the mechanical and sometimes inappropriate use of cohesive links keeps it at this level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic terms like 'users,' 'chart,' and 'table,' alongside some attempts at less common items such as 'satisfaction level' and 'proportion' (though 'share' is used). However, there are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'satisfaction of level of user' instead of 'user satisfaction levels,' 'Full-time undergraduate contributes the largest share' instead of 'accounts for,' and 'most unsatisfied user is due to' rather than 'highest dissatisfaction was reported regarding.' Spelling and word formation errors, such as 'contract' for 'contrast,' occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited vocabulary range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple constructions alongside faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including preposition errors ('users in library' instead of 'users of the library'), article omissions ('the chart illustrates the different categories of users in library'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('the satisfaction level of readers... is highest... moreover due to'). Punctuation and spacing issues are also present, such as missing spaces after commas and periods. These frequent errors in basic grammar patterns cause some difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning can generally be deciphered.
