Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially by attempting to summarise the main features of both the chart and the table, but the selection and reporting of data are imprecise. For instance, the writer states that "most of the library users are undergraduate students, while that mostly individuals are very satisfied," which is a vague overview that lacks precision. While some key figures from the pie chart are mentioned (such as 44 percent for undergraduates and 25 percent for full-time postgraduates), the details regarding the table are confused and inaccurate. The writer attempts to report satisfaction levels, stating "the highest ratio that are very satisfied of healpfulness staff, but one half percent of people are very satisfied for availability of books," which misinterprets the data for book availability (which is actually 50 percent). Furthermore, comparisons across categories are underdeveloped, leading to a restricted overview that only partially covers the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates some organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs attempting to address each visual, and an overall progression, but the flow is frequently disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesion. Phrases such as "Looking at the pie chart in detail, that most of the users..." and "In contrast, library opening hours 65 percent..." lack appropriate transitional grammar and logical linking. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical repetition of sentence openings like "Looking at the..." makes the overall arrangement feel disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the paragraphs is weak, meaning ideas do not always progress smoothly from one sentence to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Vocabulary use is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary related to the visual, such as "postgraduate," "satisfaction," and "availability," but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word form, choice, and spelling. Examples include "healpfulness" instead of helpfulness, "satisafied" instead of satisfied, "lisners" instead of learners, and "relibility" instead of reliability. These lexical errors and awkward collocations (such as "highest ratio that are very satisfied of healpfulness staff") cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic patterns and fragmented or faulty complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing verbs, incorrect prepositions, and faulty relative clauses (e.g., "while that mostly individuals are very satisfied," "Only 7 % users are academic staff, so 8 % users that are all courses students," and "part-time postgraduate students is low"). Punctuation and article usage are also problematic. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and severely limit the grammatical range, meaning control over complex structures is absent.
