Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the chart and the table, and it provides an overview. However, some areas are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the student states that 'space covered by the Full-time undergraduate' is 44%, which misinterprets the chart's focus on user categories rather than physical space. Additionally, some data points are presented with imprecise or awkward phrasing, such as 'availability of books and journals are respectively gives 50% and 45%'. To move to a higher band, the student should ensure all data is reported accurately in context, with fully developed comparisons and no confusion regarding what the charts measure.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, overview, chart details, and table details. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader through the data, such as 'Overall', 'Initially', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like 'On ther other hand' and 'Also, some of students who took a distance courses used by only 8% of students'. The half-band achievement reflects a clear overall progression that successfully meets the requirements of the lower band while showing organizational elements of the higher band, though referencing and flow require smoother control to reach that next level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic information about the figures. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'helpful behaviour is the most satisfied', 'staff helping nature', 'shares around 16%', and 'pecentages'. There are also minor spelling slips such as 'ther other' and 'pecentages'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and attempts at less common lexical items often result in unnatural expressions. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to use a wider and more precise range of vocabulary with accurate collocations and correct word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like subordinate clauses and passive-like constructions. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the availability of books and journals are respectively gives'), incorrect prepositions ('satisfied by the library's staff helping nature towards them'), missing articles ('took a distance courses', 'academic faculties'), and awkward phrasing ('the people not satisfied mainly by the availability of journals, has around 20%'). To improve, the student must exercise better control over basic grammatical structures, articles, and verb forms to ensure greater accuracy across all sentences.
