Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by covering both the pie chart and the table. An adequate overview is provided, highlighting the main features such as the dominance of full-time undergraduates at forty-four percent and the generally high levels of user satisfaction, particularly regarding staff helpfulness. Key data points are selected and reported accurately, including specific figures like ninety-five percent for staff helpfulness and twenty percent for dissatisfaction with journal availability. However, the development of ideas leans towards a tendency to over-generalize in places and some comparisons between categories could be extended further, placing the response solidly at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response maintains a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information is grouped sensibly, with the pie chart details discussed in the third paragraph and the table data regarding satisfaction levels analyzed in the final paragraph. Cohesive devices are used adequately to connect ideas, such as 'overall', 'moreover', and 'on the contrary', though there is a slight mechanical feel to transitions like 'Then it was seen that' and 'Then it was seen that'. Paragraphing is utilized effectively to separate the two distinct visual sources, ensuring the overall arrangement is coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'proportions', 'satisfaction levels', and 'dissatisfaction'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, but some word choices and word forms are imprecise or slightly unnatural, such as 'Distance learning' used as a noun for people ('Academic staff and Distance learning were found nearly same') and 'Part-time post graduated'. Spelling and word choice errors are present ('fulltime', 'post graduated', 'second ranked'), but these do not impede communication, reflecting a standard typical of this lexical band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and comparative structures. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the user\'s satisfaction levels', 'on very satisfied level'), awkward preposition usage ('satisfied with availability of journals the most'), and punctuation slips like uncapitalized or comma-spliced clauses. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the basic grammatical structures remain generally accurate throughout the essay.
