Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also report several satisfaction figures correctly, including 65% for opening hours and 95% for staff helpfulness. However, the overview is unclear and does not bring out the strongest overall patterns, such as the high satisfaction with staff and opening hours compared with the more mixed views of books, journals and wi-fi. The wi-fi figure is mentioned, but its satisfaction result is not explained or compared, and the 10%, 20% and 19% dissatisfied figures are omitted. Develop the overview and cover the less-developed categories more evenly to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving to details, and the user-category figures are separated into their own sentence. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression is uneven: the overview repeats details that are then given again, and the final paragraph moves through satisfaction categories without a clear comparison or consistent pattern. Linking words such as “While” do not clearly connect the ideas that follow. Group the most positive results together, then compare the more mixed categories, and use clear references to avoid repetition. More purposeful paragraphing and transitions would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduates,” “part-time postgraduate,” “satisfaction rate” and “fairly satisfied,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts at evaluative language, such as “outstanding.” However, several word choices and collocations are awkward or repetitive: “have the most percentage,” “information of survey,” and “lower from all these” are not natural ways to describe chart data. Spelling errors in “acdemic,” “satisfication,” “realiability,” “helpfullness” and “Availabilty” also reduce accuracy. Use precise reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “the highest proportion,” and “was lower than,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple sentences and more complex forms, including the contrast beginning “While” and the clause “as their satisfaction rate is 95%.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some sentence structures are incomplete or awkward. For example, “Overall, full-time undergraduates have the most percentage of active users and 7% is the lowest percentage of academic staff” joins two comparisons without a clear grammatical relationship. “The library opening hours satisfaction rate is 65% and 35% users are fairly satisfied” also needs clearer sentence structure and article use. Aim for controlled comparisons, such as “Undergraduates made up the largest group, whereas academic staff represented the smallest.” Review articles, sentence boundaries and clause connections.
