Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the results of a survey of library users at a university. In contrast, table demonstrates the satisfaction level of library users.
Overall, full-time undergraduates accounted for the largest proportion, while academic staff had the lowest percentage of library users. In contrast, helpfulness of staff have the highest satisfaction level, while availability of journals and reliability of wifi have the smallest satisfaction level of library users.
In terms of pie chart, full-time undergraduates contributed 44% of the total library users, while full-time postgraduates have the second largest percentage, at 25%. Part-time postgraduates made up 16% of the total distribution. Moreover, distance learning ( all cources ) and academic staff together account for 15% of total library users.
Turning to the table, helpfulness of staff had the highest satisfaction, at 95% very satisfied, 35% fairly, and nobody was disatisfied. Moreover, library opening hours also received high satisfaction levels, 65% highly satisfied, 35% fairly, and this category aslo do not have any disatisfaction. Futhermore, availability of books was also viewed positively, 50% very satisfied, 40% with fairly, and with 10% not satisfied. Turning to the remaining categories, avalibility of journals had the lowest satisfaction levels, 48 highly satisfied, 35% fairly, and 20% with not satisfied respectively, while reliability of wifi also had smallest satisfaction levels, 48% more satisfied, 33% fairly, and 19% with not satisfied respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both visuals and provide a clear overview: undergraduates are the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction. Most figures are reported accurately, including the user-group shares and the opening-hours and book ratings. However, there are important inaccuracies in the final comparison: journals are reported as 48% very satisfied, but the figure is 45%; 48% belongs to wi-fi. Also, journals and wi-fi are not equally the least satisfying category: journals have the highest dissatisfaction (20%), while wi-fi has 19%. The overview could identify this distinction more precisely. Your response already selects and compares relevant features, but correcting these details and developing the satisfaction comparison more fully would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement, moving from an introduction and overview to the user categories and then the satisfaction table. Paragraphing helps distinguish the two visuals, and signposts such as “Overall,” “In terms of pie chart,” and “Turning to the table” make the progression easy to follow. However, transitions are somewhat mechanical and repeated, particularly “Turning to” and “Moreover.” Some links between details are also unclear: the final sentence places journals and wi-fi together as having the smallest satisfaction levels, without clearly distinguishing their figures or dissatisfaction rates. Use more varied, precise comparisons and connect related table results directly, rather than relying mainly on sequencing phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “contributed,” “made up,” and “satisfaction levels,” which helps describe proportions and ratings. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “highly satisfied” is used where “very satisfied” is the table’s category, and “smallest satisfaction levels” is awkward for describing the lowest ratings. Spelling errors such as “cources,” “disatisfied,” “aslo,” “Futhermore,” and “avalibility” are noticeable. There is also some repetition of “satisfaction” and “total.” Aim for accurate spelling and use the chart’s labels consistently; a more precise range of comparison language would make the report clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses with “while” and a range of past-tense reporting verbs. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Articles are missing in “table demonstrates” and “In terms of pie chart,” and agreement is incorrect in “helpfulness of staff have” and “distance learning … and academic staff together account” when describing the completed survey. Tense also shifts between past and present, for example “contributed” followed by “have the second largest percentage.” Some list constructions are incomplete or awkward, as in “40% with fairly.” Check articles, subject–verb agreement, and consistent past-tense reporting, while keeping the useful variety of sentence structures.
