The chart and table illustrates the findings of a survey of library users in a certain institution of higher learning.

On user satisfaction, 95% of them were very satisfied with the helpfulness of the staff, none of them was not satisfied with this, only 5% were fairly satisfied with the staff. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response identifies the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. It also gives a useful overview of high satisfaction with staff helpfulness and low satisfaction with journals. However, coverage of the table is incomplete: the response gives no figures for journal satisfaction or wi-fi, and does not compare the satisfaction results across all categories. The statement that distance learners and academic staff together make up 15% is accurate, but the claim that 44% of undergraduates “visited the library” is not shown by the chart, which reports their share among users. The overview is relevant, though “nearly a quarter” for journal dissatisfaction would be clearer with the exact 20% figure.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “This was followed by,” and “On user satisfaction” help signal progression. The final paragraph, however, moves between opening hours, staff helpfulness, and books without a fully systematic comparison, and it repeats the point that nobody was dissatisfied with opening hours and staff helpfulness. To strengthen progression, group the satisfaction results by pattern—for example, first the two categories with no dissatisfaction, then books, journals, and wi-fi—and use references such as “these two aspects” only when the referent is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
There is an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “greatest share,” “proportion,” “very satisfied,” and “availability.” These choices communicate the main comparisons, and the response uses some variation rather than repeating “users” throughout. A few word choices are inaccurate or less natural: “the list proportion” appears to mean “the lowest proportion,” while “visited the library” implies a frequency measure that the chart does not provide. “A certain institution of higher learning” is also unnecessarily elaborate compared with “a university.” Aim for precise collocations and consistent terms such as “share of library users” and “satisfaction with the availability of…”; this would make the vocabulary more flexible and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the overview sentence with “while” and the comparison “This was followed by…”. Most meanings remain clear, but some grammatical and punctuation errors are present. In the opening, the compound subject “chart and table” requires “illustrate,” not “illustrates.” The sentence beginning “44% of full-time undergraduate students visited…” joins two independent clauses with a comma; use a full stop or a conjunction. There is also an awkward comma in “academic staff ,had,” and “none of them was not satisfied” creates a confusing negative construction. Prefer “no respondents were dissatisfied.” More consistent control of agreement, clause boundaries, and negative forms would improve accuracy.
