Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features accurately: full-time undergraduates are the largest user group at 44%, academic staff are the smallest at 7%, and staff helpfulness receives the highest very-satisfied rating at 95%. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: journals are not the lowest-rated category overall, since 20% are dissatisfied with journals compared with 19% for Wi-Fi. The response also omits the book-satisfaction figures and gives the Wi-Fi figures incorrectly, stating 35% fairly satisfied and “195” not satisfied rather than 33% and 19%. To strengthen the summary, compare the satisfaction categories more fully and report the main contrasts across all five services, while keeping the overview focused on the clearest patterns.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “while” signal comparison. However, progression within the final paragraph is limited: it moves from staff helpfulness to opening hours and Wi-Fi without covering books or journals, so the account feels incomplete rather than systematically organised. Some links are also awkward or unclear, as in “Distance learning was highest than academic staff.” Grouping the satisfaction results by strongest and weakest ratings, and using clearer comparisons between services, would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “academic staff,” “very satisfied,” and “reliability of wi-fi,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “postgraduated” is not the appropriate noun form, “inclued” and “categorie” are misspelled, and “highest than” is an incorrect comparative expression. Repeated use of “highest” and “lowest” also makes the description less precise. Build a small set of accurate comparison phrases and check spelling and word forms; this will help you describe the data more clearly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, for example, “Overall, it is clear that…” and “while academic staff was lowest.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in agreement, sentence construction, and punctuation sometimes make the relationships between figures unclear. Examples include “The pie chart and table illustrates,” where the plural subject needs a plural verb, and “full-time undergraduate were highest,” where the subject and verb do not agree. The sentence about Wi-Fi also has an unclear structure. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build comparisons using complete patterns such as “X received a higher satisfaction rating than Y.” Check spacing after commas and full stops as well.
