The pie chart illustrates the result of a survey of library users at a university.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the largest group correctly as full-time undergraduates (44%) and the smallest as academic staff (7%), and you mention the 16% and 8% groups. However, the overview contains a major factual error: “Both the users accounted 51%” is unclear and does not accurately describe the categories; the two largest groups together make up 69%. You also call the largest group “Full-time graduate” at the end, although the chart shows full-time undergraduates. The satisfaction table is only described generally, with no accurate comparisons of its key figures; for example, staff helpfulness has the highest very-satisfied result (95%), while opening hours has 65%. Select and report the main patterns more precisely, including the contrast between these results and lower satisfaction with journals and wi-fi.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a summary of user categories, and a paragraph about satisfaction. This gives the reader some sense of the two visual elements. However, progression is weak because the final paragraph begins with “Overall” and repeats an overview rather than concluding the report, while “Looking at the details” introduces a list without developing it into clear comparisons. Linking words such as “Meanwhile” and “While” are used, but the latter creates an incomplete contrast. The relationship between the two largest user groups and the stated 51% is also difficult to follow. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by separate, logically ordered comparisons of the chart and table, and use reference words and connectors accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted,” “availability,” “reliability,” and “satisfaction,” and the reader can generally identify the topics being discussed. There is some repetition of “accounted” and “user,” however, and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “three satisfactory columns” and “greater ratio than the other.” “Mixed satisfaction” is also unclear in this context. These choices limit precision when describing the table, even though the intended subject is usually recognisable. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, such as “satisfaction categories,” “a higher proportion,” and “respondents were very satisfied.” Check spelling as well: “reliabilty” should be “reliability.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few longer structures, including “which led to the greater ratio than the other” and the clause beginning “which are categorized,” alongside simpler statements. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain errors that make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “the full-time undergraduate accounted the largest proportion” needs a preposition (“accounted for”), and “Most of the user satisfied” lacks both plural agreement and an appropriate verb form. “The library user satisfaction based on following points” is a sentence fragment, while “Both the users accounted 51%” has an unclear grammatical structure. Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and practise accurate comparative clauses before adding complexity.
