Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both visuals and identify several important features: undergraduates form the largest user group (44%), staff the smallest (7%), and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction result. The figures you report are generally accurate, including the satisfaction breakdowns. Your overview is present, but it could capture the table more fully by noting that no one was dissatisfied with opening hours or staff helpfulness, while journals and Wi-Fi attracted the highest dissatisfaction. Some descriptions are also imprecise: “highest number of library usage” suggests counts rather than percentages, and the table reports percentages, not numbers of people. The response therefore addresses the task well overall, with some key comparisons and overview details less fully expressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview, a paragraph on user categories, a paragraph on satisfaction, and a final summary. This makes the information broadly easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, particularly through repeated openings such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “Moreover.” The long table paragraph joins several separate comparisons into one sentence, making the relationships between the figures harder to track. The final overview repeats the point about academic staff and adds the dissatisfaction finding, but the latter would be clearer if it were also highlighted earlier. Use shorter, more clearly separated comparisons and vary linking devices to make cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “availability,” “satisfied,” and “reliability,” and the reader can understand the main comparisons. However, some word choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing charts. “Highest number of library usage” confuses a percentage share with a count, while “review of the users” does not accurately describe the satisfaction table. Phrases such as “gradual decrease” and “similar usage” are also not the most precise way to report fixed proportions. There is some repetition of “users” and “satisfied,” and collocations such as “not satisfied review” are awkward. Aim for concise reporting language and use terms such as “proportion,” “share,” and “dissatisfied” accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main information is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “Full-time undergraduate students has” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “Availability of books have” should use a singular verb with the category as its subject. The table paragraph also becomes a run-on sentence as several comparisons are joined without clear punctuation. There are spacing and punctuation problems, such as the space before the full stop in “usage .People,” and some missing articles. Work on building shorter, complete sentences with consistent subject–verb agreement and clear punctuation before attempting longer comparisons.
