Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The chart and table reveal the statistics of results of a survey, divided into two types such as library users and user satisfaction at a university. It can be seen clearly that there is a close compitition among the given figures, whereas the trends reflects a evident fluctuation across in percentage.
First of all, the categories of library users have different sectors like academic staff, distance learing, part- time postgraduate, full-time postgraduate and also full-time undergraduate as well. Now, full-time undergraduate have maximum proportion of users which was around 45% and the minimum proportion of library users were 7% for academic staff and part-time postgraduate over twice from academic staff that was 16% and distance learing was half of part-time postgraduate which was 8%.
On the other hand, library user satisfaction are classified into three types very satisfied, fairly satisfied and also not satisfied as well. The highest percentage of very satisfied users were 95% in helpfulness of staff and lowest in fairly satisfied and nuetral userswere lies in library opening hours and helpfulness staff as well which were 0%, also availabilty of journels were under half of helpfulness of staff which was 45%. However, availability of books was over to reliability of wi-fi that was 50 %.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both the user categories and satisfaction measures, and correctly note that full-time undergraduates form the largest group (about 44%) and academic staff the smallest (7%). You also report the 95% very-satisfied figure for staff helpfulness. However, the overview is unclear and includes an unsupported claim of “close competition” and “evident fluctuation”; the data show a clear difference in group sizes, not a trend over time. Some comparisons are inaccurate or incomplete: 0% applies to the “not satisfied” responses for opening hours and staff helpfulness, not to fairly satisfied users, and the 50% for books is not meaningfully described as “over” wi-fi satisfaction. Include the main satisfaction pattern and compare the remaining categories more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about user categories, and a paragraph about satisfaction. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “On the other hand” help signal the shift between the two visuals. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several figures and comparisons are packed into long sentences. For example, the sentence beginning “the minimum proportion” combines academic staff, part-time postgraduates and distance learners without a clear comparison structure. Some linking language is also mechanical or does not express the intended relationship. A clearer overview paragraph followed by one focused paragraph per visual, with each comparison stated separately, would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “classified” and “satisfaction,” and you attempt to describe comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. “Close competition” is not suitable for comparing survey proportions, while “trends reflects a evident fluctuation” does not accurately describe these static figures. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “compitition,” “learing,” “nuetral” and “journels.” Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “the proportion who were satisfied,” and check spelling carefully. This would improve clarity without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses such as “which was around 45%” and transitions between ideas. However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. Examples include “the trends reflects,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “the lowest in fairly satisfied and nuetral userswere lies,” which has an unclear structure and verb form. Articles, plurals and sentence construction also need attention, as in “library user satisfaction are classified.” Use shorter, controlled sentences to report each comparison, and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms before adding subordinate clauses. More accurate sentence patterns would make your data easier to interpret.
