Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main user groups and report several figures accurately, including 44% for full-time undergraduates, 25% for full-time postgraduates, and the 65%/35% split for opening hours. However, the overview is unclear and includes an unsupported trend: satisfaction does not “continuously increase”; the table compares satisfaction levels across different aspects. The response also stops partway through the satisfaction data, omitting key comparisons for journals and Wi-Fi and leaving the books figures unfinished. The task is therefore only partially covered, with limited development of the main features. The response is also five words below the required minimum. To improve, give a clear overview of the largest user group and strongest satisfaction result, then summarise the remaining satisfaction categories accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation: an opening statement is followed by an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph beginning the satisfaction figures. Sequencing words such as “Firstly” and “Additionally” help signal these sections. However, progression is weakened by the unclear overview and by the final paragraph ending abruptly at “40% fai,” so the reader cannot follow a complete account of the table. Some linking is also mechanical, and the long opening overview sentence combines ideas without making their relationship clear. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the chart and table, and ensure each paragraph develops a full comparison before moving on. A concise overview followed by logically grouped details would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant terms, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “full-time undergraduate,” and “fairly satisfied,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make the report difficult to read, such as “morals of servay,” “persantage,” “postgrade,” and “helffulness.” Some phrases are also unnatural for describing data: “highest in all others” and “is upto 16% of all” do not express comparisons clearly. Aim for accurate chart language and consistent spelling, using phrases such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “the remaining users.” Proofreading these recurring word-choice and spelling problems would make your meaning more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, for example “Overall, it describe about the categories … as well as library user satisfaction,” but control is weak and most sentences rely on simple patterns. Errors in agreement and sentence construction occur frequently: “it describe” should be “it describes,” while “full-time undergraduate has highest” needs an article and a clearer grammatical structure. The opening sentence also lacks a well-formed construction, and the satisfaction paragraph contains a run-on sequence joined with “and.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, including the lowercase sentence beginning “and helpfulness.” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine related comparisons with controlled clauses. Complete sentences and careful checking of verb agreement, articles, and punctuation will improve clarity.
