Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both visuals and give a clear overview: undergraduates are the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and the table compares satisfaction across five aspects. The figures reported are accurate, including the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 20% not satisfied with journals. This thorough reporting meets the task well. To make the summary more fully developed, draw out the main pattern in the table rather than mainly listing each row: for example, staff helpfulness and opening hours received no dissatisfied responses, while journals had the highest dissatisfaction. This comparison would make the key findings more prominent and reduce the sense of a category-by-category inventory.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised clearly into an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. The progression from the user categories to satisfaction results is easy to follow, and signposts such as “As for the pie chart” and “Moving further” help guide the reader. The table paragraph also presents the ratings in a consistent order, which makes the figures accessible. However, several transitions are formulaic, and the final paragraph reads largely as a sequence of individual results. Use more comparison-based links, such as contrasting the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness against the lower ratings for journals, to create a stronger progression between details.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing proportions and survey results, including “accounted for the largest share,” “represented the smallest share,” and “constituted.” The meaning remains clear throughout, and terms such as “very satisfied” and “fairly satisfied” accurately reflect the table. However, some choices are awkward or inaccurate: “contentment for” is not a natural collocation, and “distant learning” should be “distance learning.” There are also spelling errors in “undergratude,” “criterias,” and “dissatisifed.” These slips show that vocabulary is adequate but not consistently controlled. Prefer standard chart language and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex structures, including the overview clause “of which full-time undergraduates accounted for the largest share” and several sentences with contrasting ratings. Most information is understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening should be “The pie charts and table illustrate,” because the compound subject is plural. “The academic staff constituted to the smallest proportion” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “The people doing distant learning … was 8%” has a subject–verb agreement problem. There are also awkward article and number patterns, such as “five criterias” and “with a three - point scale.” More accurate agreement and sentence patterns would improve control while preserving your range.
