Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visuals and include several relevant figures, such as the 44% share of full-time undergraduates and the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness. The overview also identifies the largest user group and the strongest satisfaction result. However, some details are inaccurate: 35% were fairly satisfied with opening hours, not “not properly in this favour,” and the table shows 33% fairly satisfied with Wi-Fi, not dissatisfied. You also omit the 19% who were not satisfied with Wi-Fi. The overview could compare the satisfaction results more clearly, for example by noting that staff helpfulness received the strongest ratings while journals had the highest dissatisfaction. These unevenly reported details limit the completeness of the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the two visuals. However, the satisfaction paragraph becomes a long sequence of points linked mainly by “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “In addition.” Some links are mechanical, and the contrast introduced by “although” does not always make the relationship between figures clear. Grouping the satisfaction results into clearer comparisons—for instance, the strongest ratings versus the areas with more dissatisfaction—would improve progression. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and that references such as “this favour” identify the rating category being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time postgraduate,” “satisfaction,” and “availability,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For example, “consumed their time in library” is not a natural way to describe the proportion of academic staff, and “completely against the availability of journals” does not clearly express dissatisfaction. There are also spelling errors such as “higly,” “availabilty,” and “jounals.” Aim for precise reporting language and use the table’s categories consistently, such as “very satisfied,” “fairly satisfied,” and “not satisfied,” rather than replacing them with vague phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main topic is usually identifiable. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity. The opening says “The given pie chart and table demonstrates,” where the plural subject requires “demonstrate.” In “most of the library use by full time undergraduate,” the noun phrase and sentence structure are incomplete; a clearer form would be “Full-time undergraduates make up the largest group of library users.” Several sentences also run together, as in the opening-hours statement, which needs a full stop or a suitable conjunction. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries need more consistent control. Building shorter, complete sentences before adding complex links would make the information easier to follow.
