Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group and the smallest group accurately, and your overview also highlights the strongest satisfaction result: staff helpfulness at 95%. You include several relevant comparisons from both visuals. However, some descriptions are inaccurate or unclear: “full time graduates” should be full-time undergraduates for the 44% group, while the 25% and 16% groups are full-time and part-time postgraduates. The claim that dissatisfaction is due to “unavailability of journals” goes beyond the table, which reports satisfaction levels rather than reasons. You also omit the 10% dissatisfaction for books and 19% for wi-fi. More precise category labels and a clearer summary of the satisfaction pattern would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. This helps the reader distinguish the user categories from satisfaction results. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and some links are awkward or incomplete. For example, “With only 1% more is the group with the distance learning courses” is difficult to follow, while “Probing further” does not clearly signal what information follows. The final paragraph moves between satisfaction categories without consistently grouping the figures, and the use of “while” sometimes joins comparisons loosely. Organise the satisfaction data in a clear sequence—perhaps by feature or by satisfaction level—and use straightforward linking phrases to make comparisons explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “constituting,” “dissatisfaction,” and “reliability,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Probing further,” although this sounds unnatural in a chart summary. Some word choices are imprecise: “graduates” does not accurately name the undergraduate and postgraduate categories, and “unavailability of journals” presents a cause that the data do not establish. Spelling slips such as “thier,” “libary,” “satified,” and “realiability” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart terminology and natural collocations, and proofread carefully for spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including an overview with linked clauses and comparisons using “while,” and most of the intended meaning can be understood. However, some sentence structures are incomplete or awkward. “With only 1% more is the group…” lacks a clear grammatical construction, and “The library users are most satisfied by the helpfulness of the staff and comprising 95%” does not form a complete, well-controlled sentence. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly where sentences run directly into figures or the next sentence. Use complete subject–verb structures, check that each clause has a clear grammatical link, and separate sentences consistently. These changes would improve control while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
