Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates make up 44%, the largest share, and you report the other user categories. You also cover satisfaction, including the high figures for staff helpfulness and opening hours. However, some comparisons are unclear or inaccurate: “Academic staff collectively dominated” contradicts the data, as staff account for only 7%, and “followed by postgraduate” does not distinguish full-time postgraduate users (25%) from part-time users (16%). The table discussion omits important contrasts, such as 95% satisfaction with staff helpfulness and the higher dissatisfaction with journals and wi-fi. The overview is present but vague, so select the clearest highs and lows and report them precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about user categories and a paragraph about satisfaction. This helps the reader recognise the two parts of the visual. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven. The overview’s claim that academic staff “collectively dominated” conflicts with the figures, and the transition “Turning to the table” is followed by information that is not consistently ordered or compared. Linking words such as “Moreover” and “conversely” are used, but sometimes do not express the relationship accurately. The final sentence about fair satisfaction is incomplete in its coverage. Group the most and least positive results together and use clear references to each category.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted,” “followed by,” and “availability,” and the reader can generally identify the topics being described. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For example, “proportion of result” and “people highly satisfaction” do not express the intended ideas naturally, while “commanded to 16%” is unsuitable for describing a chart figure. “Collectively dominated” is also misleading in context. Spelling and word-form slips such as “nad” and “leat” further reduce precision. Prefer straightforward, accurate reporting language such as “accounted for,” “were satisfied with,” and “represented.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes some attempts at complex sentence forms, such as “it is clearly visible that…” and the contrast introduced by “whereas,” but control is limited and errors occur frequently. Several sentences lack articles or required grammatical elements: “the full time undergraduate accounted the largest proportion” needs a preposition and a more complete noun phrase, while “university library users considerably satisfied” is missing a verb. Subject–verb agreement and tense are also inconsistent, as in “the full time undergraduate represent.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are unreliable, including lower-case sentence openings and comma spacing. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
