Student answer (Band 6.5)
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of different categories of library users, while the table compares the satisfaction level of library users regarding various services of library.
Overall, full time undergraduates accounted major proportion among all library users, while the academic staff represented the least proportion. In contrast, regarding the satisfaction level of library services, the helpfulness of staff showed more positive ratings, while the availability of journals received most negative response.
On the one hand, the full time undergraduates accounted major proprtion of 44%, while the full time undergraduate accounted second large of 25%. Moewover, the part time postgraduate represnted the coverage of 16% which is lower than previous two categories of users. The distance learning accounted the proprotion of only 8%, while the academic staff covered least proportion of 7% among all users.
On the other hand, firstly helpfulness of staff showed very high rating of 95% satisfaction with remaining 5% fairly dissatisfied. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address both visuals and give a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction, and journals attract the most dissatisfaction. Most figures are reported accurately, including the user-category shares and the satisfaction results for opening hours, staff, books and journals. The main factual weakness is the wi-fi description: 48% were very satisfied, 33% fairly satisfied and 19% not satisfied, but you call the 48% a “positive response” without reporting the 33% fairly satisfied. Also, “25%” is full-time postgraduate, not full-time undergraduate. These are limited inaccuracies within an otherwise well-selected account. For greater precision, distinguish the satisfaction categories consistently and check each label against its figure before writing comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the user categories and satisfaction data. The contrastive phrases “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the two sections, and the information generally progresses from the largest user group to smaller ones. However, the sequence within the satisfaction paragraph becomes somewhat mechanical through “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore,” and the final sentence combines several figures in a way that makes the wi-fi comparison less clear. Some references, such as “the previous two categories,” require the reader to look back. To strengthen progression, group related satisfaction results and use more precise links between the figures and the service being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted,” “satisfaction level,” and “dissatisfaction,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “accounted major proportion,” “accounted second large,” “represented the coverage,” and “completely not satisfied.” Repetition of “accounted” and “represented” also limits flexibility. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “proprtion,” “Moewover,” “respondants,” and “realibilty,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “made up,” “ranked second,” and “were dissatisfied,” and proofread spelling carefully. This would make your descriptions more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses linked with “while” and “but,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, plurals and sentence patterns. For example, “the full time undergraduates accounted major proportion” needs an article and a grammatical construction such as “accounted for the largest proportion”; “50% user were satisfied” needs a plural noun; and “with account of 19% dissatisfaction users” is not a well-formed phrase. The sentence beginning “The 45% users represented…” also joins contrasting information awkwardly. Work on accurate percentage constructions (“45% of users were…”) and vary sentence patterns while checking agreement and articles.
